Re: Awaiting your orders, miss Jade
I only played the coin-op version, but I was not impressed with Otomedius. I wasn't really expecting the Gradius V of Parodius games (though that would've been awesome), but it's not even really as good (or funny) as Sexy Parodius.

Re: Awaiting your orders, miss Jade
Behold the newest teaser: http://kotaku.com/5246177/is-this-new-b ... e=true&s=x
I'm still a little bit wary of the more realistic proportions, but god, is it hard to try arguing with a tour de force like that. The smartasses in the Kotaku comments are screaming bullshots; it's definitely (probably?) not gameplay, but I can see these graphics happening in-engine - did the first one even have any pre-rendered scenes?
Other observations: Locit should be ecstatic cause there are a few quick glances at her face this time. The enforcers trying to gun her down identify themselves as generic "POLICE".
More than this at E3, plzplzplz.

We are 15 minutes from Ubisoft's E3 conference and I can't believe in all this time none of you have had anything to say about that video above. Jeez!

Re: Awaiting your orders, miss Jade
Well THAT was a long enough troll of people's time. No BG&E obviously, though it was sorta worth sitting through for the descent into hysterical madness around 7:16.
So hope for luck tomorrow or we wait for Ubidays, then?

I was actually planning to watch this show just for BG&E2, but had issues of some sort with the two streams I tried. Guess I didn't miss it? :{ Here's to hoping for tomorrow…

The way the helicopter's blades turn at the end should propel it backwards.FlashTHD wrote:Behold the newest teaser: http://kotaku.com/5246177/is-this-new-b ... e=true&s=x

Yeah it's 6:17 on Gamespot's liveblog. I was going to mention I ended up sitting through Kotaku's account of it instead since the GS one wasn't working, but fuck if i'm going to make 4 freaking posts in a row because i'm not allowed to edit even one of them.Crowbar wrote:Also there is no 7:16 on the page for that conference and I ain't reading through it all.

Re: Awaiting your orders, miss Jade
Been a while since any news, too bad now it's crappy news: it's officially "on hold". I don't know what the hell that's supposed to indicate for a sequel to a 5 year old big-budget cult classic other than very bad juju. Some journalist out there is long overdue for a word with Ancel.

What I want to know is how he got Parodius out of a BG&E topic. I mean, most of his comments tend to kind-of-sort-of pertain to the topic at hand.

Now, why he keeps (apparently deliberately) misspelling "PlayStation", I don't know. Maybe he's actually deliberately trolling us all (in more ways than this, obviously)? Doing a damn good job, if so.

I guess I'll etch a memorial in my apartment wall next to the ones for Shenmue 3 and Bumpy Trot 2.

I believe "Playstacion" is correct in Spanish.Shadow Hog wrote:Now, why he keeps (apparently deliberately) misspelling "PlayStation", I don't know. Maybe he's actually deliberately trolling us all (in more ways than this, obviously)? Doing a damn good job, if so.

"Estación" means station in Spanish, but the PlayStation brand remains untranslated.
Too bad for Jade, but all Ubisoft cares about these days is their Rabbids and Assassin's Creed anyway.

Re: Awaiting your orders, miss Jade
http://www.gamespot.com/news/6280102.html <-- The original is finally getting re-released, and hopefully by this time it's actually built up enough street cred to sell. Don't know about updating all the graphics, though...but I imagine Ancel will keep that aspect under control. I'm not sure I care what they do as long as they fucking do something about the lock-up/stuck glitches.
It was posted about in another thread but as a reminder, the sequel is getting finished eventually, just very slowly by a small team, as part of some Ubisoft experiment in doing big budget games with less overhead (presumably the only way Ancel could sell it).

Re: Awaiting your orders, miss Jade
Source: http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2 ... generationSpeaking at an exclusive Ubisoft dinner, Ancel stated that BG&E2 is far into development but is currently targeting a release on the next generation of consoles (successors to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 which have not yet been announced).
Sigh ;_;

Well... it is sure to get a little more notoriety as a launch title, that's for sure.

Re: Awaiting your orders, miss Jade
Against all odds, Ancel insists it's still alive.
"I think [on current platforms] Beyond Good & Evil 2 was possible, but it'd be painful. It's always possible to do anything on any kind of console, but sometimes you need to spend your energy not on the optimizations or things like that.
"Now that we have the [new] consoles around the corner we're working on them. We're trying to see how we can get the power out of those consoles because there are still things we need to understand on those consoles, but yes, Beyond Good & Evil is a project I always have in mind and I hope good things will come for this project very soon".

Re: Awaiting your orders, miss Jade
Sounds very similar to the sort of stuff my old boss David Braben used to say about Outsider.
Before it was canned and I lost my job along with dozens of others, I mean. Even though he continued to say things like “There is still publisher interest in the project, and we haven’t cancelled it.”

Re: Awaiting your orders, miss Jade
I'm surprised Ubisoft hasn't run him screaming out the door yet. IIRC, the original Assassin's Creed producer - and this is what he claims - was basically told out of nowhere to get the hell off the property and wasn't allowed to collect his belongings. He's now filing an unlawful termination suit, and the implication is that Ubisoft hired him back for his own studio's IPs and had no intention of keeping him afterward.

Re: Awaiting your orders, miss Jade
Ancel has been pretty ballsy too, what with the open protest of Rayman Legends' delayed release, so I'm extra surprised they let him stay on. I guess as he's been knighted and such it'd create way too much bad press for Ubisoft to do so(at least in Europe, where he seems to be more well known.) Still, whatever steam they could have gained from the HD port of Beyond Good and Evil has probably fizzled, and the market for photography-action-espionage is likely pretty niche. It'd be grand to see it happen, but at this point I bet they'll just make the team put it on Kickstarter.
