Urkel to reprise the voice of Sonic in upcoming fan film.
Dude must've needed the work badly.
1st the archie sonic comic staff is making a Mega Man comic & now the maker of a Mega Man fan film is doing a Sonic one. Weird world it is.

That's got to be pretty embarrassing for Jaleel that he has to find work in fan-made projects.
I wonder what they're paying him. I imagine in lieu of a paycheck, he's living in their basement and eating whatever they have in the fridge. "Cheeseburger Hot Pockets! Way Past Cool!"

Hey, maybe he just wants to do it. Could be a pet project sort of thing.

Jaleel probably just liked playing the character. I doubt he'll be getting a significant sum of cash from this project.

My guess is that he has kids that are fans of the character in general.

I never really liked how Sonic was voiced, ever, in english. I always thought he should sound more like Mickey Mouse or Felix the Cat. When the SatAM cartoons aired here his voice actually sounded a lot like that.
Jaleel's voice sounds kinda like between the Sonic we got in the games today and, well, Mickey Mouse. Sounds good enough for me.

Which one, the Mickey Mouse-like one, the raspy one, or the Charles Adler one?Opa-Opa wrote:I always thought he should sound more like [...] Felix the Cat.
I think they're all pretty lousy.

I thought Drummond nailed the voice of Sonic. His take on the character sounded more cool than cute. He also made Sonic sound energetic, while Jason Griffith sounded like a more relaxed, mellow version of Drummond.
Jaleel just sounded like a typical cartoon animal.
Sonic's new voice from Colors reminds me of Michelangelo from the Ninja Turtles.

It's totally a Ninja Turtle voice! I thought it was more of a Leonardo, though. Still!

Ninja Turtles (the newer incarnation) was my first though too. It's not all that bad, but a little jarring. I still think Drummond had the right voice for Sonic, even when the delivery left a lot to be desired.

At this point, I almost wish they would regress to the complete silence of Sonics 1-3. I've lost my hope of ever getting a competent voice actor to replace Dave.

It's Confirmed. Jaleel White can still voice Sonic perfectly

I'm not digging the overdone CG fur, but damn, that voice does take me back some.
It's weird hearing it in a modern context, and maybe this is just nostalgia talking, but I feel like it's got a sort of genuine, goofy-cool charm that's kind of missing from Sonic's image in general these days.

It might just be the quality combined with an antiquated monitor, but it looks to me like Sonic's spines have been shaved off..

He looks like the Werehog.
So a 1 minute teaser (most of which is just scrolling text, naturally) gets a 25+ minute interview? I'm sure some of them have interesting things to say but I'm incredibly irritated in the first two minutes. Any good stuff in there?

I'm really surprised this is actually getting made. Best of luck to them. I'd have more faith in fan adaptation then anything Sega or that prick Iizuka could do.
So, is this licensed?

Damn, beat me to the Werehog fur comparison.
It feels a bit surreal to hear modern Segasonic voiced by Jaleel, but nice that his voice is still dead-on. It's quite cool!

That was less cringe-inducing than anticipated. Almost pleasant, in fact.
Pedantic nitpick: if they're going for his "classic" look, manginess aside, why are his eyelids blue instead of Caucasian-hued?

His model is very modern in general. I would also prefer him to be smooth rather then have scruffy fur.Fur is something we're not used to at all.

D'aw, this is just cute. If this gets finished I'll probably watch it for nostalgia's sake.

Eh. I thought that trailer was painful to watch. Music was good and theatrical, but Jaleel just doesn't work as Sonic Adventure-style Sonic. That little monologue was poorly written (But then again, Sonic is always spouting cringe-inducing dialogue..)
Sonic's speech about how Eggman "took everything away from him" suggests we'll be getting a SatAM-ish take on the character.
