She Had Long Ears...

Post by BlazeHedgehog »

Okay, so while poking around the internet ages ago I found that there was something of an easter egg in NiGHTS - apparently, according to this FAQ, if you beat Puffy before the clock gets under 90 seconds, the door at the end of her stage opens up to reveal... I don't even remember what. I thought it was a ballroom of sorts.

Closest I ever got was 89 seconds.

So I load up NiGHTS today, and do a run through Spring Valley - A, A, B, A. I let the clock get away from me there on that B a bit and had to scrap it lest I would've gone back to being Claris.

Puffy comes up as the boss, which is rare, because usually once you beat the game it randomly chooses a boss whenever you beat a stage. So I decide - hey, let's go for the gold. Let's see if I can land it with more than 90 seconds remaining.

I'm making great time! I quickly clear the first three rooms, with a volley of well-timed shots. Then I hit the one room -- with the two seperate windows, one on the top and one on the bottom. I lose 20 seconds in this room. Now at 75, I realize it's hopeless, but I still rush to the finish. I finish at 63 seconds left.

The door opened.

It's probably what's in there, but reguardless, it did not open all the way. What it revealed was... a curious object, that I have no idea what the hell it is. It's like... I don't know. It had a thin base that kind of bubbled out near the top with one of those pointy-hat things you see on old fashioned chimneys.

Any idea if there are similiar things in the other boss stages? Any idea why I saw it when the original FAQ said I needed to finish the stage with more than 90 seconds on the clock? Just what the hell IS that object, anyway?

You do know that you can "set" which boss appears in the options right?

I appreciate you filling the status quo and totally being the first to reply with the response I knew somebody was going to bring up.

It's ironic really, 'cause Popcorn doesn't have a Mom. He was grown in a test-tube.

...the babble that comes out of my little autistic brother's mouth made more sense than that.

You never mentioned that before.

I used to have this irrational fear that maybe I was retarded and nobody ever told me. I still kind of do.

What exactly is autistic anyway? I've heard the term several times before and never heard any symptoms that go along with it.

Oh and GG!, I think it is safe to say you are borderline if nothing else.

Ever seen the movie "Radio"?

autism - A psychiatric disorder of childhood characterized by marked deficits in communication and social interaction, preoccupation with fantasy, language impairment, and abnormal behavior, such as repetitive acts and excessive attachment to certain objects. It is usually associated with intellectual impairment.

*shrug* It's not really a huge thing.

You're not retarded, you're just weird.

Forget Radio -- ever seen Rain Man? That's a pretty damn good portrayal of autism.

Aside from the language impairment, that's me.

Methinks the makers of that movie were worse off, mentally speaking, than any characters or conditions they attempted to portray.
